Synopsis:
Fugitive gang leader Mike Michelli, convinced that Lamont Cranston has murdered his brother, has sworn vengeance. Lamont is suspected of murder due to a tidy frame-up, and Commissioner Weston grants Lamont twenty-four hours to find proof of his innocence before he performs his duty and arrests the amateur detective. Michelli and his goons kidnap Lamont, tie him to a chair in a building saturated with gasoline, then set it afire. The Shadow visits Laurie, the landlady, to question her involvement in the frame-up that occurred in her boarding house. Learning that Michelli and his men are planning a hijacking and her boyfriend, Snipe, plans to double-cross Michelli, The Shadow races out of town to apprehend the criminals.After foiling Snipe’s attempt to eliminate Mi-chelli, The Shadow forces him to confess how he framed Lamont Cranston, knowing there was bad blood between Michelli and Cranston.The police take all the criminals into custody, and Lamont is cleared of any wrongdoing.
Note:
This episode was a rewrite of “Shadow of Suspicion” broadcast on December 29th 1946 it would be rewritten again as "The Shadow of a Doubt" broadcast on May 24th 1953.
