Synopsis:

Five years ago Gilbert Forbes escaped The Shadow in Rio de Janeiro after stealing the famous Diplomat Diamond. They faced each other in darkness, but he escaped before The Shadow could apprehend him. Following plastic surgery, he returned to the U.S. under the guise of a wealthy connoisseur who publicly offers to buy the famed Star of the Orient, a diamond worth $1 million. Before the stone can be cut into twenty-five smaller diamonds at a society party which he himself is hosting, Forbes steals the diamond when the lights go out, and frames The Shadow for the crime. While Commissioner Weston begins a search for the invisible avenger, Lamont attempts to prove to the police that Forbes was behind the theft. Realizing that the criminal needs a diamond cutter to complete his task, Lamont sends Margot to Hubert Van Doorn, America’s foremost diamond cleavage expert, and discovers the truth about the plastic surgery. The Shadow tracks Margot’s whereabouts and Weston arrives in time to overhear the conversation between the imposter and the real Shadow.
