Synopsis:
An army officer named John Wilson is tried and found guilty of tampering with an experimental flying torpedo but Margot insists the officer was in a trance when sitting in the courtroom. Professor Arkelis, the man who designed the new weapon, arranges for a demonstration on the proving grounds where the highest government officials will be on hand, including the President and Vice-President. The Shadow pays Wilson a visit in prison and, after breaking the hypnotic hold Arkelis held over him, learns the truth: Arkelis and his group work for a foreign country. Wilson discovered that the steering mechanism of the flying torpedo had an extra attachment, which would force it to circle back and land where it was launched, killing everyone present at the demonstration. The Shadow gets in touch with Commissioner Weston, who arranges for his men to take the foreigners and Professor Arkelis into custody, thwarting the launch of the new device.
