Synopsis:
Senator Durham, an innocent man, is going to be railroaded and sent to prison for fifteen years by his political enemies because of a faked film presented in the courtroom, “proving” he accepted a bribe. The Shadow learns that attorney Anthony Vogel was responsible, having hired actor Hugh Wilson to imitate the senator’s voice in the soundtrack to perfect the frame. With his conscience plaguing him, Wilson tells Vogel he’s confessing to the police but Vogel shoots the actor and locks The Shadow in the room with the dead body for the police to find. Margot arrives in time to unlock the door. With the assistance of The Shadow and Margot, Wilson gives a farewell performance using a microphone and a wax recorder to cut a record. At the trial, the record is played for the jury, clearing Senator Durham of bribery by revealing how the soundtrack on the film was faked. The last voice the jury hears is that of The Shadow reminding people in the courtroom that all crime must fail and all criminals must pay the penalty of death.
