Synopsis:
While vacationing in Cairo, Egypt, Lamont Cranston answers a call for help from Dr. Rawling at the Cairo General Hospital. Three patients in three days have disappeared without a trace — despite being unable to walk due to various reasons: broken leg, broken hip, etc. When a fourth patient vanishes and the body of an orderly is found with his throat cut, Lamont arranges for Margot to fake an auto accident so she can be admitted to the hospital. Certain that Margot will become the next victim, The Shadow follows the body of the chloroformed female as she is taken to a private lab in the hospital by a masked figure. Margot wakes to find herself strapped to an operating table next to one of the missing patients — dead as a result of their two legs being hacked off. The masked figure reveals a bottle of green liquid, a catalyst that grows flesh on flesh. The Shadow arrives to unmask the kidnapper. Dr. Kruger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the hospital, hopes to perform a miracle by grafting an amputated leg to the woman’s raw bleeding stump. If it works, he plans to replace his bad leg with a good one. The Shadow hypnotizes the criminal long enough to free Margot. Struggling with the invisible Shadow, Kruger knocks over the oil lamp, setting fire to the lab. Margot and The Shadow escape before the entire place goes up in flames, but Kruger is unable to escape — his charred remains found among the burnt rubble and smoking ashes.
