A series of fires causes damage to tenement houses and a number of deaths. The police suspect an arsonist. Lamont finds a connection and sets out as The Shadow to uncover an insurance plot involving three men who are cashing in on a lucrative insurance policy. In an effort to save Lamont’s life, Margot becomes the unwitting victim of the crooks when she is kidnapped because of her connection with The Shadow. Lamont sets out to rescue his girlfriend, aware that a trap has been laid out for him. Avoiding the trap by using shrewd psychology, The Shadow tricks the men into turning against each other.
