Cast: Bill Johnstone (Lamont Cranston/The Shadow) Marjorie Anderson (Margot Lane)
Synopsis:
John Baldring, renowned archaeologist, is responsible for the discovery of Rachnes’ tomb which supposedly contains a five thousand year-old curse. The proud owner of a solid gold urn studded with precious stones and a raised pattern of a coiled snake, Baldring is found dead in his study from a snakebite but no evidence is left behind to suggest a snake was on the scene. This baffles Commissioner Weston. Lamont questions the suspects (sometimes as The Shadow), including Baldring’s widow Elly, her son Storm, their house servant Mahdi, and a rival named Dr. Tuttle. After the death of Storm in the same manner as his father, Lamont sets a trap, luring Dr. Richards into the study. Richards sought vengeance on Baldring for taking all the glory in discoveries for which he felt he should have had equal recognition. A poisonous little snake was released from the secret hiding place in the urn. Lamont kills the reptile after being bitten and Richards is shocked to find his third victim alive and well thanks to anti-venom serum.
