Synopsis:
The wealthy Mayfair district has been subjected to two murders, multiple robberies and a number of disappearances. Margot’s friend Edith Day, a dark-haired girl, becomes the latest victim in a rash of crimes. The guilty party, known as The Creeper, resides in an abandoned water main constructed over a hundred years ago and abandoned due to the Spanish-American War. Lamont discovers the tunnel carved out of solid rock where the kidnap victims are being kept alive and held captive. After finding a secret passage to the tunnel from one of the houses, Margot falls victim to The Creeper who shoots and wounds her before The Shadow knocks him out. The Creeper awakens and flees while Lamont tends to her wounds. Setting out to stop The Creeper before he murders his captives, The Shadow gives chase. Desperate to cover his tracks and destroy his underground castle, The Creeper threatens to set off dynamite. The Shadow lures the madman away from the hostages to the end of the tunnel, but The Creeper is so focused on destroying The Shadow that he becomes a victim of his own explosion.
