Synopsis:

During the construction of the new intercity tunnel, eight men were killed in the decompression chamber. Contractor Pete Stockton went to school with Lamont so the amateur sleuth investigates. After questioning a rival contractor, Lamont decides to inspect the tunnel with Margot by his side. Alone in the tunnel, they discover the real murderer is supervisor Pop Berky who turns up the air pressure in an attempt to kill the snooping investigators and blow the tunnel to bits. When Berky attempts to murder his employer by smashing the main induction valve, The Shadow knocks Berky unconscious. Later, Lamont and Margot explain to Commissioner Weston how they found an air pocket in an escape chamber to avoid the death trap. Berky had sought revenge out of a hatred of Stockton’s father because of a former love interest.
