Synopsis:

Lamont and Margot venture to upstate New Hampshire to visit her aunt, Miss Susan Prentice. Their trip is anything but quiet or restful. In the woods they meet Alexander Sirghoff hunting for an animal that escaped from his lab. Having caught a glimpse of the creature, Margot is kidnapped by the professor who acts as if he is a god and reveals his motive: since the creatures feed on human blood, Margot is to be a food source. A specially-designed room contains steel cabinets with insulated walls and soundproof covers for the cages.A lever opens the cabinets, revealing an entire family of gibbering things with two weird feet, pig-like eyes and a gum-less mouth with sharp teeth. The Shadow attempts to save Margot but falls into a trap and finds himself alone in the room with the creatures. Later, believing The Shadow is dead, the professor returns, intending to put Margot and her aunt in the room. However, The Shadow managed to hang from a rope on a pipe in the ceiling. Knocking the gun out of the professor’s hand, The Shadow is able to handcuff him. Men previously subject to the professor’s will realize the strong hold he had on them is lifted and release the creatures on the professor.
