Synopsis:

Investigating the murder of Roger Sanders, Lamont and Margot meet his stepdaughter Consuelo, who is under the spell of a pseudo-psychiatrist named Doc and a spiritualist named Swami. In an attempt to get rid of the inquisitive Lamont, Swami hypnotizes Consuelo and instructs her to shoot Lamont. When she misses, Lamont urges her to remain at his apartment while he investigates. Doc gets information from his clients when they come to him, and he passes it along to Swami who uses the knowledge in his séances. Swami and Doc figure things are too hot and attempt to pull out but fail to reckon on Consuelo who shoots Swami dead. The Shadow arrives to save Doc for the police, and with Consuelo behind bars, Lamont explains to Margot that she tried to interest her stepfather in the phony spiritualism in which the “spirit of her mother” would demand he change his will in Consuelo’s favor. Ultimately, her idea was to blame both murders on Doc.
