Synopsis:
The glamorous, beautiful Elaine Abbott, whom the critics call “the girl with the million dollar face,” becomes a victim of a serious car accident involving her fiancé, Bill Weldon. When she wakes in the hospital, the doctor informs her that with plastic surgery she can look better than before. Shocked by her horrible transformation, she vanishes without a trace. Two weeks later, the night clerk at a hotel is shot and killed — his face beaten in. The next day, the same doctor at the hospital where Elaine was a patient becomes another victim. Lamont and Margot set out on the trail of the elusive Orchid (a.k.a. Elaine Abbott) in hopes of saving Bill Weldon’s life before she succeeds. When they discover her whereabouts, Margot fetches Weston while Lamont pays The Orchid a visit under the guise of The Shadow. After Bill is saved from the same fate as her other victims, The Orchid pleads with The Shadow to teach her how to become invisible so others will not see her face but the Shadow turns her over to the authorities instead. She will spend her remaining years at the state mental institution sitting in a dark room so that no one, not even the attendants, can see her face.

This episode was a repeat of “The Face” broadcast on September 21st 1947.
