Synopsis:

A great mass of living tissue has been created by Professor Ernst Haller, eccentric biochemist, in a house which lies hidden behind enormous poplar trees on the outskirts of town. Searching for the origin of a weird purple glow left behind on what remains of a cow and a research scientist, Lamont and Margot trace the source to Haller’s cottage. Upon discovering that Haller created a new life form that absorbs food through osmosis and that the scientist plans to use this creature as the first stage of building a vast army of ungodly monsters to take over the world, Lamont sets out as The Shadow to put a stop to the madman’s dream. The dead research scientist was a rival who attempted to expose Haller, only to become a victim before he could alert the authorities. Snooping too close to the truth, Margot almost becomes the madman’s next victim until The Shadow arrives to lock the creature in a cage and ensure Haller spends his remaining years in an institution. As for the creature, it is buried in a lead casket twenty feet in the ground.
