Synopsis:
Investigating the house originally owned by Marlin Coffin, infamous New England plunderer and murderer, Margot and Lamont find the body of spinster housekeeper Corinne Hibbs, with a knife through her heart. The elderly Alicia Talley, alone in the house, is haunted by the specter of the past — strange voices, flickering lights and the sound of boots walking the hallways of the bleak New England residence known as Coffin House. When the sleuths discover two shaggy culprits in the dusty basement storeroom, The Shadow wrings the truth out of one of the men. Talley purchased the seacoast residence after learning the glass bottles of Holland gin found in the house contain uncut diamonds from Holland — a veritable fortune in precious stones. Upon hearing that the great Lamont Cranston was in town, Talley employed his gifted talents in the hopes he would scare off her hired scavengers. When she attempts to make an escape, The Shadow grabs her so the law can end her career as her late husband, Marlin Coffin, ended his with a noose around the neck.
