Synopsis:

Dead twenty-five years, a ghostly dog that wanders the Darrow house killing all trespassers, is blamed for the death of Miss Ogilvie, the secretary of Dr. Lyle Travick. Amelia Darrow, granddaughter of the former owner of Darrow House, hired the doctor to spend forty-eight hours inside it to dismiss the superstition. The house servant, Smethers, swears he saw the phantom beast — a snarling, vicious devil. Spending her first night in the house, Amelia is attacked by such an animal and her body, along with that of Ogilvie, disappears. Lamont, Margot, Smethers and Travick search the house for the missing women. The same animal attacks Smethers. The phone lines are cut. Margot stumbles on the two bodies and is soon caught, gagged and tied to a post by Bardolph, an animal trainer hired by the doctor. Following the rumor that the former owner hid his vast fortune within the house, the two men acquired a timber wolf to play the part of the spectral hound. The Shadow arrives and Bardolph places a knife at Margot’s throat in an effort to escape. The Shadow knocks the knife out of his hand and then punches the animal trainer, causing him to fall on his own knife. Margot is released from her bonds and when she and The Shadow escape the door closes, leaving Travick at the mercy of the wolf.
