Synopsis:
Days after a violent squall capsized a small boat, killing Kurt Sandor and critically incapacitating his wife with shock and exhaustion, Lyra Sandor suffers from a recurring dream in which her husband returns from the grave to claim his bride. Lyra’s sister, Celeste, calls on Lamont and Margot for help at the Crag House, which towers along the black cliffs above a long, dark beach. Lamont suspects the old servant, Anna, is taking advantage of Kurt’s death to deliberately frighten Lyra out of her mind, but when the old woman is found dead on the beach, he starts on the trail for the dead man. After finding the body of Kurt in a cave, The Shadow pretends to be the spirit of Kurt to force a confession out of Lyra. Kurt was in love with Celeste and asked his wife for a divorce. Instead, she killed him in a jealous rage and buried his body in the cave. She faked the story of his drowning, her dreams of death and murdered Anna to frighten people away from the truth. Lyra will soon be going to her death, and this time it won’t be a dream.
