Synopsis:
Professor Reeves perfects the Atomatron, designed for a great peacetime use of atomic energy. If the invention works, he will be able to increase the human lifespan another twenty to thirty years. A criminal being sent to the chair is given a full pardon if he agrees to be the guinea pig for science but when enemy agents murder the death row inmate, Professor Reeves himself agrees to enter the lead-coated chamber. Lamont and Margot are inside the lab at the request of David Fairfield while his agents are stationed outside. When something goes wrong, Reeves disintegrates into a pile of dust. Suspecting sabotage, Lamont dons the guise of The Shadow to witness the next execution and discover just who is sabotaging the experiment and attempting to gain the secret of the Atomatron for their own country. The killer turns out to be Reeves himself who faked his death in an elaborate scheme to avoid suspicion and eliminate his lab assistants so he alone would be the only one possessing the secret. The Shadow turns on the alarm for the intelligence guards who arrive and take Reeves into custody.
