Synopsis:

The police are left without clues or suspects in the mysterious murder of Dr. Randolph Lee, famed surgeon and Chief of Staff of Memorial Hospital. Lamont and Margot discovered his body after receiving a phone call from Dr. Lee asking for help. Six patients had died in the hospital after every ounce of blood was drained from their bodies; yet in each case, their deaths were ascribed to other causes. By process of elimination, Lamont discovers that Dr. Hardwick falsified the purchase records and death certificates. In charge of the blood bank, he killed helpless men and women for their blood so he could sell it to the hospital. When exposed, Dr. Lee kidnaps Margot and takes her to a special soundproof room where he begins to slowly drain the blood from her body. The Shadow races through the hospital checking every room while Margot grows weaker by the minute. Finding her in the nick of time, he clamps the drain tube and knocks the criminal out. When Hardwick recovers, he discovers Lamont’s secret identity. Realizing there is no escape after observing Lamont quickly fading into the shadows, a desperate Hardwick avoids arrest by shooting himself in the head.
