Synopsis:

Three Christmas Eve robberies loot homes of the poor. The city relief center fears there will be no Christmas dinners for the indigent. The fund for the Christmas Day party was stolen from the Bleeker Orphans’ Home. A widow and her eight-year-old grandson face eviction with their life savings stolen. The public clamors for action and Commissioner Weston admits that the phones ring so often they sound like a burglar alarm. Having suffered a brief blackout after being hit by a car on the icy roads, Lamont fears he was the culprit during his missing hours when he finds the sum total of the cash in his coat pocket. The Shadow spends the evening making house calls to return the money. Back at Margot’s apartment, Lamont fears his reign as The Shadow may have to come to a close until Weston catches the culprit — a young boy named Bobbie, who worked at all three places: the relief center, the orphanage and the tenement. Since the money was returned, Weston lets the child go, and Lamont discovers the money he returned was his own. Having a brief holiday discussion with the boy, Lamont lets the child leave, knowing a possible career of crime has been thwarted and there will be a very merry Christmas for everyone concerned.
