Synopsis:

In his hopes that the dead can communicate with the living, wealthy Ellsworth Van Dyke prepares for his entombment, complete with a glass coffin and a microphone leading to a speaker system in the house. After his demise, his daughter Joan continues to hear her father’s voice within the hallways and bedrooms of the house. She explains to Lamont and Margot that her Aunt Clara and Uncle Arthur hated Ellsworth, and the detectives wonder if the relatives might be trying to drive the girl insane. Seeking the truth, Lamont and Margot spend an hour in the mausoleum, only to be locked inside by the servant, Sara. She killed Uncle Arthur and attempted to frame the murder on Aunt Clara. Racing back to the house, Sara attempts to drive Joan to suicide. Having escaped from the mausoleum, thanks to the tip from Van Dyke who awoke inside the coffin, The Shadow sets out to foil Sara’s scheme. Sara wanted to seek revenge against the entire Van Dyke family because she was once in love with the wealthy eccentric. The Shadow thwarts her scheme by saving Sara’s life. Later, Lamont explains to Margot that Ellsworth took a drug that gave the impression of death, during which he hoped his sixty hours of unconsciousness would reveal the true motives of his family.
