Synopsis:

Late one night, Gatsy and his hoodlums murder one of their own: Mr. Herrion, a country gentleman who walks with a sword-cane and spends his money supporting a dopey sculptor in the name of art preservation. Herrion had wanted a double share in the gang’s take. Moments after Gatsy commits the crime, Herrion appears with a death warning for the entire gang and, one by one, stabs the hoodlums in the heart or in the back with his sword-cane. Believing he failed in his attempt to slay a vampire, Gatsy forces the investigating Lamont, Margot and Commissioner Weston into performing a vampire burial, complete with wooden stake. Lamont eventually earns the confidence of Gatsy in order to slip away so he can investigate the details of the case and prove that Herrion has been dead since day one. Spelzer, the sculptor, wore Herrion’s death mask so he could impersonate his friend, murder the other members of the gang and frighten Gatsy into paying him Herrion’s share. Gatsy becomes Spelzer’s final victim in the presence of The Shadow but not before Gatsy shoots the sculptor to death upon learning the truth.
