Synopsis:

A new exhibit at the city museum reconstructing a tomb of a recently discovered Egyptian pharaoh proves fatal when Dr. Romney Hale, director of the expedition, and two colleagues responsible for the discovery, die soon after examining the mummy’s sarcophagus. The medical examiner verifies that all three men died from a lack of white corpuscles. The Shadow sets out to solve the mystery by digging into the past of August Kent, the museum curator, a former scientist who left the profession after his experiments with x-ray machines caused harm. Further investigation reveals a hidden generator in the mummy case which sends damaging rays from the eyes of the mummy when a switch is flipped. Kent intended to eliminate everyone who stood in his way of a promotion. An exhibition for the press to show Kent’s courage to face the mummy goes awry when The Shadow arrives to reveal the truth of Kent’s involvement. Forced to face the mummy, Kent collapses and dies. Before the demonstration, The Shadow had removed the generator to prevent further deaths. Kent simply died of fright.
