Synopsis:
Professor Arthur Snead is preoccupied with an interest in ghosts and haunted houses. Knowing full well that his wife has a weak heart, he intends to scare her to death by tricking her into believing the house is haunted. Snead has made a living marrying wealthy women and then killing them for their estate. The professor’s plot almost backfires when two crooks pay him a visit, offering to speed the process by shooting Carolin instead of pretending to be ghosts. When Margo calls on her old friend, Carolin Snead, Lamont discovers the plot and, as The Shadow, foils the scheme by taunting Sneed into killing one of the crooks and then using the other to expose the truth when the police arrive.
