Synopsis:

A racket involving phony sweepstakes tickets claims half a million dollars and the racetrack commissioner is unable to pinpoint the people responsible for the fraud. Margot discovers the winning ticket sold to her by her dressmaker is phony so she joins Lamont in the investigation. An hour after Mrs. Burns refunds Margot’s money and hesitates revealing where she bought the tickets, someone murders her. Margot follows the trail to hairdresser Vic Landi, and poses as a romantic interest while The Shadow follows her to Landi’s private office. Unearthing the location of the printing press, The Shadow tortures Vic until another associate, Pete, fears Vic is crazy and shoots him to prevent him from talking. The Shadow laughs at Pete, promising to torture him until he surrenders to the police. Later, Lamont tells Margot that Vic was attempting to move in and replace the big boss – who turns out to be the racetrack commissioner.
