Synopsis:

The great jewel thief, Anatole Chevanic, makes headlines with a crime spree, baffling police who are powerless to convict him without evidence. Days after Chevanic is found stabbed to death in his apartment, a series of jewel thefts occurs with the same trademark Chevanic left at the scene of his crimes — a white gardenia. Chevanic willed his body to science, and Professor George Gilroy admits he attempted to bring the dead back to life. But after questioning the scientist, Lamont suspects the professor failed in his quest. After further digging, Lamont discovers that a private investigator named Devlin possessed the plans to protect the jewels from Chevanic. He shared the plans with Chevanic’s twin brother, Jacques, in return for a share of the loot. Desperate to escape the law and knowing the only proof is Devlin himself, Jacques stabs the investigator. However, a judge sees things differently and sentences the jewel thief to be hanged.
