Synopsis:

Ram Lal is a phony mystic who bills himself as “the Wisdom of the East.” Educated in the best Egyptian universities, he conducts séances at society parties where women are apparently robbed of their jewels. Commissioner Weston accuses the elusive Shadow of being the master thief but Lamont suspects Ram Lal. When Margo sets out to find evidence against Ram Lal, the mystic discovers her true identity but not before she escapes. In Margo’s apartment, Lamont escapes a death trap meant for her when he dodges the noose of an Indian strangler hired by Ram Lal. Later, at a party hosted by the wealthy Betty Berkley, as Ram Lal is about to put on a show using his trained red macaw, Margot appears – much to the surprise of the murderous mystic. Proving Ram Lal makes his bird talk using ventriloquism, Lamont reveals the method he uses to distract the women at parties as the crooks perform their robberies.
