Synopsis:

The skillful hands of a surgeon become a murder weapon when two famed doctors are found dead with their right arms amputated. Dr. Alexander Giles is the lead suspect when his knife is found on the table of Professor Dana Williams, who also receives a gift from the murderer — one of the severed arms. A former student of Williams, Lamont takes an interest in the case. The Shadow’s questioning of Jennings, an assistant for Williams and his courses, reveals that Williams once had his left arm severed and now seeks retribution against those who can perform a better job with a knife than he. Following a death warning delivered to Williams by phone, Lamont and Margot visit the big pipe organ in the loft of the chapel to find Giles alive and well, struggling for his life. Williams has apparently gone mad, killing two former colleagues out of jealousy and planting evidence against Giles in the hopes it would lure him to the chapel so he could commit the crime. The Shadow confronts the professor, who is unable to cope with reality, and leaps from the alcove above the loft and plunges to his death.
