Synopsis:
Jonathan Craig, an eccentric old man dying from a rare disease, is permanent resident of the Craig mansion, which is complete with the stone walled catacombs of the Craig family. Craig bequeaths his entire fortune to the sole surviving member of the family one year after his death. If two or more survive one year after his death, the fortune goes to charity. Within days of his death, two nephews named Peter and William become unfortunate murder victims. Commissioner Weston investigates, but finds nothing to cinch a murder charge against the two surviving kin, Julie and Eric. He leaves Lamont and Margot behind to keep an unofficial eye on things. Julie is caught attempting to stab Eric, but she claims Uncle Jonathan came back from the dead to convince her to take the family fortune. Eric is strangled to death moments later. Lamont and Margot visit the heavy metal caskets of generations past in the catacombs and uncover a secret entrance to a passageway leading to a hiding place where Peter, who faked his death, plots the murder of Julie. The Shadow pretends to be the voice of a ghost and taunts Peter into a confession for the police who are summoned by Margot.
