Synopsis:

Commissioner Weston and Lamont storm into Killer Brunelli’s hideout while the place is surrounded by the police. Amidst the tear gas and bullets, Weston and Lamont overpower the notorious killer and accidentally stab Brunelli fatally. Days after Brunelli’s body vanishes from the morgue, a lone killer makes the rounds committing daring payroll heists and jewelry store robberies. Desperate to apprehend the criminal again and prove to Lamont that Brunelli couldn’t have returned from the dead, Commissioner Weston agrees to Lamont’s plan to be bait in order to attract Brunelli. The plan succeeds when Weston fires a bullet into Brunelli’s heart but Weston is knocked out and kidnapped. Following the trail to the boarded up Mateo’s Funeral Parlor, The Shadow discovers how Professor Mallock and his assistant Mateo have developed artificial blood plasma, allowing Brunelli to be brought back to life through experimental surgery. After freeing Weston from a locked room, The Shadow and the commissioner are trapped in an airtight room that is filling with gas. When the men are supposedly unconscious, the Professor and Mateo return to finish their task of bringing Brunelli back from the dead so they can continue to profit under their prior arrangement with the killer. The Shadow knocks the scalpel out of the professor’s hand and laughs as the police start to arrive with Cardona. Later, Lamont explains to Margot how he and Weston were able to avoid becoming unconscious by applying a Yogi trick of suspended animation.
