Synopsis:

Multi-millionaire Calvin Marks has been diagnosed with an incurable disease and given six months to live. Signing a contract with the unorthodox Dr. Otto Helmuth, Marks agrees to pay half a million dollars if his life can be extended. After checking into the clinic, Marks discovers the truth: Helmuth is a fake. After applying a skillful hand with plastic surgery on a man with the same features and build as Marks, Helmuth disposes of the real Marks in an acid tank and substitutes the imposter so he can gain control of the millions. Marks’ daughter, Janet, suspects something afoul and invites Lamont and Margot to investigate. After being questioned by The Shadow, Marks’ secretary named Lytton gets cold feet and attempts to flee. Helmuth shoots him and disposes of him in the vat of acid. When the duplicate Marks attempts a double-cross, he is killed and his body left alongside a road. Margot and Janet, discovering a mistake at the funeral home, are forced at gunpoint to Helmuth’s hospital. Before he can kill them, The Shadow arrives. Stepping back to combat The Shadow, Helmuth accidentally falls into the vat of acid.
