Synopsis:
On his deathbed, Mr. Kendall informs his children, Alice and Tom, that they will inherit his fortune under the terms of his will — provided they promise to carry on their father’s philanthropy. In the event of their deaths, the money reverts to his second wife, Katherine. Two years later, days before Alice turns twenty-one, Dr. Sabin, Katherine and her brother Steven cleverly plot Alice’s death. Tom has been kept drugged in a private sanitarium, courtesy of Dr. Sabin. Once he is released and going through withdrawal, they convince him that his sister is withholding the drugs so that he’ll murder her. Stumbling into the scenario, Lamont asks Margot to pose as a nurse to protect Alice while The Shadow reveals to Tom, going through a severe withdrawal, how his stepmother, uncle and doctor want to gain hold of the family wealth.
