Synopsis:

Smitty, one of the keepers at the city zoo, suffers from a glandular condition giving visitors the impression that he is more animal than human. Resentful of the way society treats him, Smitty changes his daily lifestyle to that of a gorilla and one day turns on a co-worker, crushing his bones until he dies. On the lam, Smitty then starts a career that would later involve freeing a gorilla from his cage. Investigating, Lamont and Margot find themselves trapped in a room with Black Beauty, a deadly panther. Lamont’s quick thinking saves them, but they soon discover that Smitty is desperate to save his brother “Big Boy” from the locked cage at the zoo. Finding the gorilla-man and his brother alive and well in an old abandoned farmhouse half a mile from the zoo, Lamont, Margot and Shreve set out to capture the killer. Shreve gets into the standard comical mishap, while Margot is almost killed by Smitty as Lamont shoots the gorilla. Furious like an ape, Smitty attempts to flee The Shadow by climbing up on the roof and swinging like a gorilla, but plunges to his death with the drainpipe breaks.
