Synopsis:

A small town in the Midwest suffers a series of brutal murders involving its four richest men and a dead man returning from the grave. Twenty years before a young man with a club foot who worked for the Amsterdam Bank and Trust Company discovered something about the illegal operations of the firm. The men plotted the death of “The Cripple” but recall his dying words of how he would come back to seek vengeance. After the first three men die from what appear to be accidents, the sole survivor, Mr. Randolph, pleads with The Shadow for protection. An accident at Dr. Kirsten’s office reveals the truth about the gruesome murders — the doctor is The Cripple in disguise and used an embittered employee to commit the murders. Because The Shadow scared the employee away, The Cripple attempts to shoot Randolph, but the weapon is knocked out of his hand by the invisible avenger as the police move in.
