Synopsis:

Jan Protor, founder of the Protor Manufacturing Company, is tried and found guilty of first-degree murder due to the testimonies of his four partners, Dando, Gordon, Stafford and Kinley. Threatening to return and kill them all for lying under oath, Protor swears “an eye for an eye.” Days later, Protor escapes from prison. Two of the men receive small black coffins each containing a small music box playing a nursery rhyme and a human eye. Each of the men die almost instantly when the boxes are opened. The Shadow attempts to prevent a third murder but fails. Discovering that the latch that opens the boxes is coated with a rare, deadly poison, Lamont phones Stafford, the last of the survivors, to warn him. At Stafford’s residence, Protor arrives and is shot dead by his former partner. Stafford then knocks Lamont unconscious and locks Margot in the room, revealing that he committed the murders of his business partners of which Protor was accused so he could claim ownership of the manufacturing company. The Shadow laughs, insisting the law will prevail. In an attempt to escape the justice system, Stafford opens the last box himself and promptly drops dead.
