Synopsis:

The body of famed broker John Simmons is found when the lights come on in the middle of a séance during which all of the principal parties were holding hands. The four suspects include John’s wife, his friend Bill Reynolds, his wife’s nephew Paul Loring, and Omar the Mystic, who conducted the séance. Both Lamont and Commissioner Weston investigate and shortly after, Omar is found dead. In desperation, Weston allows Lamont to perform his own séance with the suspects to bring the spirit of John Simmons back from the netherworld. Using applied trickery, Lamont drives Paul Loring into hysterics. He confesses that he murdered John for the estate’s money, figuring that when the estate passed to his aunt, he could control both her and the money. It was Paul who held hands with Omar the Mystic during the séance and Omar was silenced to prevent him from disclosing that the murderer broke hands to commit the deed.
