Synopsis:

Brilliant physicist John Clements is released from prison after serving his term. The first task he performs is causing three of the six people responsible for his incarceration to vanish from a locked room without a trace. In the coming days two more disappear and the only lead the police have is his scientific apparatus, containing mirrors and cut-glass prisms, referred to as “the crystal screen.” When Eva, John’s former love and the last of those who sent him to prison, fears for her life, she calls on Lamont and Margot. Eva pretends to still be in love with John so his vanity will reveal how he disposed of the five others. He explains that he used his crystal screen to open a door to the fourth dimension, a “Land of Time,” where his victims will live in eternity alone. After he shows Eva how the system works, The Shadow takes command of the controls and repeats the same function on John. John is overpowered by his victims in the fourth dimension. When The Shadow reverses the lens to return everyone, John is pushed away and left behind. Eva drops the crystal glass that would have allowed John to return.
