Cast: Bill Johnstone (Lamont Cranston/The Shadow) Marjorie Anderson (Margot Lane)
Synopsis:
In an attempt to submit a photo for a contest held by Picture Magazine, Margot and Lamont visit the circus outside town. During the three ring proceedings, Goliath, the dancing elephant, crushes his owner, Madame Zorello, to death. The Shadow questions two suspects, one of which is a heartbroken clown named Oscar. But when Oscar is shot to death, Lamont figures out who committed the murders. A performer named Priscilla was jealous of Madame Zorello because she took her place as the star of the show. She killed Oscar to make it look as if he were a repentant murderer. Priscilla knew that Goliath got angry when he smelled the scent of the big cats, so she put Zorello’s cape over the cages the night before, knowing it would cause Goliath to go berserk when the woman wore it.After being exposed by The Shadow, Priscilla rushes to the tiger cage to set the animals loose but she fails to notice Goliath standing near her and becomes another victim of the elephant.
