Synopsis:
Professor Kramer perfects a machine that will completely disintegrate any living thing placed into the meta-chamber, with the intention of creating another machine that will reintegrate the assembly of the body at another point. Joe Martin, who made a great deal of money during Prohibition and is suspected by police of at least a half dozen murders, privately funded the project. Martin kills the professor and steals the equipment to use against his enemies. After discovering the body of Professor Kramer, Lamont and Margot follow a lead from a letter verifying the financier of the program. Caught in a trap of electrical fence surrounding a farm, Martin forces Margot into the house to use her as a human guinea pig. Moments after being closed in the cathode tube death chamber, The Shadow attempts to come to her aid. Martin threatens The Shadow to reveal himself or witness the death of Margot. Tensely, Martin throws the switch and is electrocuted. After freeing Margot, Lamont explains that while Martin was busy threatening The Shadow, the invisible avenger quickly disconnected one of the wires leading to the cathode tube. Martin died by his own hand — instead of the insulated handle, his fingers touched the bare metal.
