Synopsis:

The corpse of a dead man is found wrapped like a mummy on display at the city museum. In an attempt to trace the origin of the mummy, Commissioner Weston, Lamont and Margot visit the curator of the museum, a wealthy benefactor and an Egyptian archeologist. Professor Morton becomes the prime suspect when Lamont and Margot find themselves trapped inside his replica of an Egyptian tomb. Margot accidentally discovers the secret passage leading out of the tomb but that doesn’t stop Lamont from digging into a few library books to unearth the truth. The sign on the display offers inaccurate facts, revealing the plundering of riches from the tombs. The dead man, Carter Baldwin, was an excavation engineer who was robbing the tombs. His partner-in-crime, the wealthy financer Robert Prentiss, was supposed to sell the precious stones to innocent purchasers and attempted to keep the stones for himself by eliminating Carter. The Shadow points out four errors that gave the financier away as Prentiss tries to take the stones from his wall safe and flee.
