Synopsis:

Lamont and Margot accidentally stumble on a clever “murder for money” scheme operated by a gang of killers. The killers find couples planning to divorce and, striking an agreement with one of the couple, solve unhappy marriages with fake accidents by planting the mate’s dead body in an elevator shaft. Without anyone else knowing the victims were dead before the elevator car fell, the surviving spouse would then sue the hotel and the killers would profit. The Shadow gets too close to the truth, forcing the murderers to pull up stakes and move into the mountains to a little town called Edgerton. They attempt the same scheme there but instead of an elevator accident they plan to release the brake and watch as a bus rolls over a sixty foot drop. Lamont and Margot are caught by the killers, then knocked unconscious and planted in the bus. Shortly after, The Shadow faces the killers, pretending to be the voice of the dead, and he knocks them unconscious for the police. The corpse of the bus driver falls forward and hits the steering wheel, causing the bus to change direction and crash into a tree instead of going over the cliff.
