Synopsis:

One month before Warren Mitchell turns twenty-one and will inherit his late parents’ estate, Lamont and Margot vacation at Lamont’s private country home and discover a ghastly crime in the planning stages. Warren’s Uncle Claude, a professor of psychology, has been using a phonograph record of an automobile motor to hypnotize Warren. When Warren takes a walk down the country road and sees a life-size doll of a little girl and hears the engine sounds, he will rush out to save the little girl, becoming the victim of a hit and run. The uncle’s plans to inherit the estate, however, are foiled when The Shadow learns the details of the “murder by rescue.” While Margot prevents the young man from running into the road, The Shadow tricks Uncle Claude into believing he killed Warren. Discovering his scheme has been exposed to Warren, the uncle makes a daring break to avoid the law and drives over the cliff to his death.
