Synopsis:

In a court of law, Peter Swift is found guilty of murder and sentenced to hang. He swears to return from the grave to kill the district attorney, the judge, and the jury foreman, Ross Lane, Margo’s father. Six months later, the bodies of the first two men are found murdered and Margo, fearing for her father’s life, poses as a newspaper reporter to find out what became of Peter Swift’s body after his execution. Inspector Cardona and Commissioner Weston, meanwhile, dig up the grave and discover Swift’s coffin filled with bricks. The Shadow questions Dr. Cragg, the man responsible for bringing Swift back from the dead, but the doctor commits suicide before revealing his secret. Alive and well, Swift switches places with Taylor, Lane’s butler, and takes his intended third victim for a ride, unaware that The Shadow is also on board. When he discovers to his horror that Swift is driving the car, Ross Lane, in the back seat, faints. In desperation, The Shadow pulls the emergency brake, causing the automobile to crash into a tree, killing Swift.

Listen to an undated recreation (Sounds like a staged version of the radio script that was recorded by an audience member)

The script for this episode was published in Sanctum Reprint #31 The Dark Death & House of Shadows
