Synopsis:

After spending a dark and stormy evening at Balhowden Castle, Lamont and Margot are summoned to court to testify as eyewitnesses about the stories young Millicent Chanselford told during their visit. Moments before being sentenced by the court to a mental institution, her fiancé, Robert, breaks up the proceedings. In private, The Shadow pleads with the judge to grant him a day to prove young Millicent is not insane. Lamont, Margot and Robert spend an evening at the castle to find all the same specters she claimed to have witnessed. After closer examination, they learn the ghosts are faked and prove that her uncle Caldus Montersal was planning to drive her mad so he could control her fortune. Montersal attempts to flee, but the police arrive after Margot’s anonymous tip and shoots the crooked relative dead.
