Synopsis:
Barney Adams claims to be suffering from a series of nightmares and the solution comes in the form of extortion: ten thousand dollars paid to the order of Dr. Nightmare. Commissioner Weston will not investigate but Lamont takes on the challenge. When Barney commits suicide to escape the nightmares, Margot and Lamont discover they came too close to the truth — Margot begins suffering similar delusions. Using Margot’s cat as a compass, Lamont finds a supersonic transmitter hidden inside her radio. The doctor planted the device in her room, knowing that sound waves too high in frequency to be heard by humans can produce profound physical changes in the body, such as nightmares. The doctor uses the devices to extort money from his patients. The Shadow arrives to save Margot from the doctor, who intends to silence her after discovering the gimmick, and plays the role of a living nightmare — unaware that the doctor’s mind is unstable and cracks from the strain. Commissioner Weston offers Lamont and Margot a chance to visit the doctor in a padded cell, but Margot prefers to stay away…
