Synopsis:
High in the pine-clad hills of North Carolina is a haunted mansion. Old Sadie, a half-demented woman resides in the relic that has lost its former grandeur, away from town locals. Her hunchbacked son, Jake, lives with her. When a crook named Jim Donelli and his triggerman Slim evade the police, they use Sadie’s place as a hideout and discover that the old woman is holding four young boys captive. The Shadow, trailing the whereabouts of the children, finds himself dodging not just trigger-happy criminals, but a pack of hound dogs. Hiding in a tree to avoid the bloodhounds, The Shadow radios Margot to fetch the sheriff and remains in the tree all night for safety. The sheriff arrives in time to prevent the last dog from attacking The Shadow, and he handcuffs Jake, Jim and Slim. The old woman’s desperate attempt to raise small boys who do not belong to her is thwarted.
