Synopsis:

Commissioner Weston and Cardona have a laugh at The Shadow’s expense when they give him a tip to investigate the ‘murder’ of a wax body found in an apartment. What they don’t know is that their wild goose chase turns out to be a real murder. French scientist Dr. Ferneaux has invented a chemical which, when injected, causes victims to have a wax-like appearance and holds their organs in suspended animation. Having been laughed out of the scientific community, Ferneaux now operates the Cosmos Wax Figure Company, a front for a crooked smuggling ring where his patients pay him 25 percent of their earnings for five years as payment for entering the United States illegally. Profiting from the scheme, he has worked in secret without the law’s knowledge — except when the reversal process fails and his men have to dispose of a waxen body. When Margot is apprehended outside the factory, Ferneaux intends to silence her with the serum until The Shadow takes matters into his own hands. Having witnessed his gunmen disarmed and knocked out, Ferneaux injects himself with a super concentrated dose and, before turning to wax, destroys the restorative.
