Synopsis:

Oriental mysticism pervades a country weekend when three potential murderers gather in an effort to appropriate a fabulous emerald. Spending the weekend with Mrs. Post, who recently returned to the States from an ocean voyage with a valuable jewel, Lamont and Margot witness a fire in the guesthouse.The fire claims the life of Avery Giles. As The Shadow, Lamont questions the suspects, all of whom had a reason for murdering Mrs. Post. Seeking the whereabouts of the famed jewel to verify whether theft was a motive, Lamont and Margot see young Barbara electrocuted by an electrical fault in the burglar alarm. Fearing murder will strike again, The Shadow holds court in a dark room and awaits the murderer’s next attempt. The real killer is unmasked: Avery Giles himself, who faked his own death by substituting Mrs. Post’s body for his in the guesthouse. As her twin brother, he was able to disguise himself as Mrs. Post and fool every member of the family so he could get hold of the jewel.
