Synopsis:

Pete Murdock, a brilliant criminal lawyer responsible for Dan Malley’s turn to crime, throws his client to the wolves to protect his own hide. Setting out to find a witness who can corroborate Malley’s private disclosure and give the law something with which to convict Murdock, Lamont finds the witness dead. Locating the filing cabinet that contains Murdock’s records, The Shadow finds himself trapped within a custom-built death chamber engineered by Murdock and his associates. Laughing with pleasure, Murdock attempts to use poison gas against his foe. The Shadow contacts Margot via his shortwave radio, instructing her to send for the police. Using a pair of pliers from the dead electrician’s uniform, The Shadow unscrews a light bulb and jams the pliers into the socket. With a fuse blown, The Shadow escapes from the room while Commissioner Weston and his men arrive to take Murdock into custody.
