Synopsis:

Convicts Marty Lagort and Paul Bartow escape from the state prison through an abandoned water main, after having killed a guard. Seeking refuge nearby in Judge Bartow’s house, nephew Paul visits his uncle and shoots the old man for framing him for the crime that sent him up. Visiting at the request of Paul’s brother Edwin, Lamont and Margot witness the argument and hear the gunshots. Lamont is shot and wounded when he chases the murderer. Margot follows Paul’s old flame, Peggy, to the hideout and discovers that Marty is the real murderer. He knocked Paul out and committed the crime with the assistance of Edwin. Margot and Peggy are about to become Marty’s next victims when The Shadow appears and reveals the real killer to the recently arrived Commissioner Weston. Later, Paul is given a pardon and Peggy takes him into her arms.
