Synopsis:

An attempt on the life of wealthy eccentric Benjamin Moore brings Lamont, Margot and Commissioner Weston to the old house. Marlowe is broke and sick and hasn’t been able to walk for the last year. The only suspects are his niece, Enid, his nephew, Howard and an Indian servant from Central America named Ondo who flees the house after learning that a cloven hoof was left outside the window. The detectives find the body of Ondo with an arrow in his heart. Learning that Marlowe is not wheelchair-bound, Lamont considers him a suspect in the murder investigation. The old man, however, only hid the fact that he could walk because of masculine pride — he really has a wobbly sort of walk. Howard was the guilty party, hoping to inherit the family fortune, unaware that it did not exist. Hoping to frame his uncle, he killed Ondo and then set up an attempt on Enid’s life. Hypnotizing Enid, The Shadow saves her life from a death trap created by Howard that ultimately ends with his own demise.
